Living archive of Open Working Methods
A cooperation between the documenta archiv and nota e.V.
nota.space opens up an initially empty and seemingly infinite space in which text, image, video and sound files can be arranged as fragments in the most diverse ways and placed in relation to one another.
A restless net community has been gathering around the underlying assembly software nota since 2019, continuously expanding to include international researchers* from performance, net activism, visual art, experimental film, sound art, and science.
In July 2022, a core team of this community is working intensively in online residencies to create a shared notaspace that makes different ways of working with nota tangible.
With the Living Archive of Open Ways of Working, the net community opens this working process to interested documenta archive staff, artists, and documenta fifteen visitors. From July 16 to 17, interested parties will have the opportunity to get to know these nota working methods of the researchers*, to reflect on them in a public discussion, and to try them out for themselves.
Saturday, 16.07.2022 INPUT
Excursion to selected exhibition sites of documenta fifteen. Together with nota researchers, visitors will record images, conversations and other impressions that can later be fed into the Living Archive of open ways of working with nota.
In two impulse lectures, Tabea Lurk (art historian; head of the Mediathek of the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, Fachhochschule Nordwest Schweiz) and Klara Kroymann (freelance dramaturg, curation: Living Archive of Open Ways of Working with nota) will give examples of crash tests - in the encounter of data management and ephemeral art practices on nota - and thus lead into a public discussion.
Sunday. 07/17/2022 OUTPUT
Visitors* will have the opportunity to take first steps in their own work with the assembly software nota and to ask questions to the net community.
In a final plenary, the visitors' work processes will be related to and presented in the shared nota space of the nota researchers.
The Living Archive of Open Ways of Working is a cooperation project between the documenta Archive and nota e.V. It is part of the network project NOTANET funded by the Fonds Darstellende Künste.
