The Kassel Dokfest is showing the 14-hour documentary “exergue - on documenta 14”, which celebrated its world premiere at this year's Berlinale. The 848-minute work by Greek filmmaker Dimitris Athiridis will be screened in seven two-hour blocks on three consecutive days and shown again on the weekend after the festival.
In her evening lecture on November 21, 2024 at the Fridericianum, art historian Karoline Hille will present surprising discoveries and stories about the female artists of the first documenta. She will focus in particular on the reception history of Gabriele Münter, Emy Roeder and Sophie Taeuber-Arp.
"Overlooked Treasures – Seen Anew" was the theme of this year's internal symposium organized by the Arbeitskreis selbständiger Kultur-Institute e.V. (ASKI).
The documenta archiv receives the important estate of the photographer Monika Nikolic. Nikolic achieved international fame through her architectural photographs and as a chronicler of the documenta. The acquisition was made possible by the active commitment of the Kassel documenta forum, the support of the Kasseler Sparkasse and private donations.
Recently a special gift from director and film producer Brigitte Kramer. She curated the film program in the Bali cinemas for documenta 10 (1997) and accompanied the artistic director of documenta 10, Catherine David, with her camera on her international research trips between Kassel, Paris, Venice and São Paulo.
