Bazon Brock has decided to make a generous donation of his archive and parts of his collection to the documenta archiv. Bazon Brock, philosopher, art mediator, art critic, artist and professor, founded, among other things, the "visitor schools" of the documenta, thus establishing the mediation of contemporary art as a critical independent practice with overriding cultural goals. His legacy is unusually rich and multifaceted. It includes silkscreens, correspondence, slides, photographs, teaching materials, visual and audio material, publications, press clippings, art objects, digital data, and 2,000 titles from his library with annotations and references that provide insight into his working methods. Together with the estate of Arnold Bode, the donation forms the foundation of the planned center for curatorial practice.

A generous financial donation by Dr. Hubert Burda is going to make it possible to provide access to it which will form the basis for public use and scientific debate. The materials will be taken over after the documenta Institute, which is currently in the process of being founded, has been completed. The cataloguing work is going begin before. Further Information
